fast fun fact friday!

Because I've been learning so much about apples, I will now inflict this knowledge upon you.

Shall we play 2 truths and a lie, a-la-first-day-of-college-class style?

1. The U.S. produces more than a third of the world's apples.
2. The apple industry received a federal bailout in 2000.
3. Apple cultivars (varieties) are patented.

my guess is #1 is a lie (because it seems like the weather in the US isn't consistant enough to be a major contributor to anything).

but bencat thinks #2 is the lie. he doesnt remember seeing anything in the journal about an apple bailout. although, he was just a kitty in 2000, so maybe not up to his current reading level.

I also think #1 is a lie. And promise that I'd already decided that before seeing Jackie's comment.

Due to the overWHELMING responses, I have waited a few days to respond to let all the entries come in.

The truth is.......#1 is indeed the lie! You girls are too smart for your britches. China of all places is the world's leading apple producer with 35%! Crazy!
